What is Horseman Royale
Horseman Royale, the first release of Horseman's Gambit, introduces players to a captivating zero-sum social experiment that delves into the concept of 'war of attrition'. Drawing inspiration from the popular crypto game Fomo3D, this immersive experience is designed to operate entirely on the blockchain.
For transparency and accessibility, we encourage you to explore the game's source code available on Polygon Explorer.

Fomo3D with immediate feedback
In Horseman Royale, engaging in the game is as simple as selecting a wager size and challenging the reigning horseman. Powered by Chainlink VRF, the combat runs automatically, offering immediate results. For each fight, player has 50% probability to win and double up his wager. After winning, the player can either choose 'double down' or 'retreat' based on his risk preference. If he loses, he will get 1 loser power which grants him probability to collect dividend from future winners.
Although the fundamental mechanism seems to be a simple betting game, the game theory behind it is much more complex. For every winning fight, the winner has to pay two type of taxes that fuels the game loop of a greater economy.
2% Jackpot Tax and the Crown
The winner has to pay 2% Jackpot Tax, this fund will be locked in the smart contract. When a player gets a Quadra Kill (16x | 6.25%) and win at least 5% of the jackpot, he will steal the crown and set timer to 12 hours. When the timer hits zero, the crowned player will take the jackpot and reset everyone's loser power to 0. If another player steals the crown before timer ends, the timer resets and a new loop begins.
The mechanism is similar to the Fomo3D jackpot. The player with good luck, timing, and reasonable bankroll will have a chance to get 1000x and more with a small wager.
2% Loser Tax
In the early phase, the jackpot is expected to be small and participants are unlikely to grab the jackpot. However, they make substantial contribution to the jackpot over time. In order to compensate early participants, 2% Loser Tax is paid out to a random player who holds loser power. The probability of receiving loser tax is based on amount of loser power a player has. Mathematically, the earlier a player enters the game, the more tax revenue he can expect.
0.75% Fee
Developer takes 0.75% Fee from winner's profit. This is the only income that sustains the development of Horseman Royale. Since both loser tax and jackpot tax pays out to players, the mathematical EV for player is 0.5 * (1+1*0.9925) + 0.5*0 = 0.99625, which is 99.625%. The house edge of smart contract is 0.375%.
